Disneyland Part 1: Character Breakfast and Seth's First Crush!

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN IN DISNEYLAND!!!!
It was seriously, the most fun trip! I'm posting things out of order because I'm dying to show our Disneyland pictures and there are a million! I'll go back and cover the other SUPER FUN parts of our trip once I get all the Disney posts up!

Anyway, we started out our Disney Adventure at Goofy's Kitchen for Breakfast the first morning before heading into the park. We thought it would get Seth ready for the fun and show him how the whole seeing characters, getting your picture with them thing worked. Aunt Danika got him a really cute autograph book with a photo slot on each page so you can have a picture of you with the character next to their autograph. It's so cute and will be really fun to look back on.

At this point Seth knew we were going to Disneyland, but didn't exactly know what that meant or what he was getting himself into. But ... he was excited none the less! (All he really wanted to do what see Mickey ... which (spoiler alert!) happened later in the day)

This was such a fun breakfast and I would totally recommend it to anyone going with kids! Goofy greeted us and we got a picture with him, I didn't want to scan it in, so maybe I'll get it up here sometime?

Our first table guest was Chip. Seth was a little unsure of how things worked at first so he was a little skeptical for a few minutes.

Then came Pluto and he was a crack up with the kids. He moved his whiskers all over tickling them and they both got a kick out of it. Seth was really excited and had fun with Pluto.

Next up was Rafiki. Really ... why do they even have him as a character dressed up? Anyway, this could be my favorite picture from the trip! It's hilarious ... and needless to say, Seth wasn't really feelin' Rafiki!

Shelby is looking at him like what the heck?

Then we saw Baloo the bear. He was kind of silly and at this point Seth was starting to be all about the characters and LOVED it.

He actually ate a good amount at breakfast and was excited when Nick brought him to "dirt and worms" to eat. (It was a brunch thing, so they had a ton of different foods)

Shelby was totally clueless, but cute none the less!

Dale was next up and Seth was in the bathroom when he stopped by, so it was kind of hilarious with just Shelby there. She just stared at him for a while and then he left. LOL

We caught up with him really quick and snapped a shot with him for Seth!

But ... the best part of the breakfast had to be Princess Aurora! She was a hit! She was oh so cute with Seth and kept saying the cutest things in her high pitched princess voice.
"I'm so glad you came all the way to Disneyland to visit me and my friends!"

"Isn't Goofy just the best cook? Minnie's always telling me he makes the best pies and today I finally got a chance to try one and it was delicious!"

"If you see my friends Minnie and Mickey before I do today make sure you tell them hello for me, my prince!"

When she signed her name she said, "Now, I'm signing this Princess Aurora, but you can always call me Sleeping Beauty!"

I mean really ... I got teared up it was so cute and Seth was eating it up! It seemed to magical seeing it through his eyes (cheesy, I'm well aware, but true) After she left our table Seth kept talking about how beautiful she was and said she looked just like a princess. He talked about it throughout the morning and even brought it up again this morning.

Oh, my goodness! After this he was ready for Disneyland and couldn't wait to get over there to see what exactly it had in store for him.

Tons, and I do mean TONS, of pictures to and posts to come!

Bath Time and Oreos

Now that Shelby can sit up alone and isn't too wobbly or trying to lean back she's been taking baths with Seth. They get the biggest kick out of it. Seth thinks it fun play time and Shelby loves the undivided attention he gives her. They are cute bath buddies!

I just had to show this picture because you can finally start to see her little top tooth in pictures if you look close. She was all dressed up for a baby shower I helped throw for a friend from church last weekend.

Then Wednesday Shelby got a hold of her first oreo. I don't really know what we were thinking. After a few minutes with the Oreo this is what she looked like ...

happy as a clam, but messy as a ....... pig? Anyway, I was remembering the first time Seth had an oreo. It was at his first MLB Royals game in KC. The man behind us had a whole bag of them and gave one to him. It was an immediate mess and we were shocked at how an Oreo could cause all that. Apparently we forgot and it happened again.

Needless to say, she was more than upset when I took it away. She somehow managed to get Oreo mess all over herself, including on her back, all over Nick, the floor, the couch, etc. She seriously only had it for 2 or 3 minutes.

Now she knows chocolate is a girls best friend (or so I hear?)

Well, with that we're off to California and I can't wait for Seth to find out that we're headed to DisneyLand .... I'm seriously more than excited!!!!

February Catch Up .... Holidays and Houseguests

Yet again, it seems like Life has kept me busy and away from the blog world. I decided to clean my camera out for our upcoming vacation (more on that later) and decided to take a minute to blog in the process. This month has literally flown by ... I can't believe tomorrow is March! We had a fun month with the holidays and great weather!

We have some cute new items in our etsy shop and Seth LOVES sporting his new bow tie ... isn't he a handsome little man! His mischievous smile is contagious!

Shelby girl won't be outdone! She's getting chunky and cute, just the way we like them! I can't believe she'll be 9 months in a few days!!!

Valentine's was fun. Seth woke up with a table full of fun little things for the occasion. He had a super fun Valentine party at school and got Valentine's from all his little friends!

One of the highlights from us was his sponge bob snuggie! LOL It was hilarious and he LOVES the thing. The best part is he thought the box (showing people wearing the snuggie doing various activities) was an instruction manual. So, he wanted to wear his snuggie: eating popcorn, playing a video game, watching tv, reading a book, and sitting on the deck! LOL .... This kid takes everything so literal these days.

Look at my two little Valentine's ... aren't they the cutest?!

They are just the best of friends right now and it's the cutest thing in the world!

Shelby finally started getting some more teeth in, well one anyway. Her top right tooth came in and the other is working its way down ... which isn't the most fun thing in the world! But, as long as mom's around she is seriously the happiest little thing!

She's upgraded from the bumbo to the highchair to eat and loves sitting up there ... she thinks she's a big girl!

President's Day we headed up to the Henry Ford Museum and it was a total blast! I've heard about it and for whatever reason didn't pay much attention to it. But, we decided to head up there since my parents were in town and check it out.

IT WAS AWESOME!!! It was huge and there's no way you can see it all in one day! We totally want to head back. Especially, because Nick didn't get to join us. They have a bunch of Presidential Cars there that are really cool to see. This one FDR rode in.

This is the actual car that JFK was assassinated in ...

This is the largest train ever built, or one of them. It was ENORMOUS and so cool ... (uncle Rod ... you need to see this!)

Seth thought this sports car was Lightening McQueen at first ...

They had a million cool old cars, every brand and all the way back to stage coaches! The vintage cars were pretty neat ...

... especially this one! LOL, Seth asked me, "Why are we taking a picture by this ugly car mom?" This was the car that I drove in high school ... my first car! What a Beauty!

They had some old planes too with some exhibits about the old school fair days where they did ridiculously crazy stuff (in my opinion). Like whose idea was it to make horses jump off platforms into a little pool of water ... I guess that was before PETA! LOL

Seth had fun with grandma and especially grandpa all day!

They had the cutest area where you could pretend to work on cars in a little car shop.

grandpa helped Seth put on a tire!

These old car seat cracked me up ... I'm pretty sure the safety features in those bottom two are through the roof!

Here is Seth sitting on the actual Rosa Parks bus ... pretty cool!

They also had an area where the had a model T in pieces and they slower (with the help of kids) put it all together. It was so cool. Seth really wanted to get in there and help. So, he got to put on one of the headlights all by himself! Future Hobby?

Just proof that Shelby was actually there too!

Seth with the Oscar Mayer Mobile! He thought it was pretty funny! This place was so cool and huge. There were old furniture, silver, clock, etc exhibits and it was totally fun for kids to run around and check out the old cars and such. They even have the chair that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in ... check it out if you're in Detroit!

While grandma was in town we also had to make cookies. Seth LOVES making cookies with grandma and before she got there he told me, "can me and grandma make cookies ... because she makes the BEST ones!?" cute!

We've had some fun times this month and have been enjoying the fact that we can actually see the sun this winter and the weather hasn't been too bad either! It was fun having grandma and grandpa come visit for a few days ... we always love visitors!

So, there's a little catch up.

Winter Highlights So Far ...

Well, this winter has been kind of weird for us. The weather has been NOTHING like last year, LUCKILY! It's only been really cold once or twice honestly so I can't complain too much. We've still been keeping busy inside and thanks to pinterest I've been coming up with some great indoor activities to entertain Seth! You can check out a bunch of the ideas I've found here.

Anyway, here is a run down of what's new with us lately. Shelby is getting so big! She's 8 months now and I just can't believe it. She's been getting another tooth so she hasn't been the happiest camper. We joke that she's so lazy because she won't move ... that is unless there is food just out of her reach that she thinks she can get. Anyway, she's always laughing and smiling and her little personality is starting to come out!

Other than today it has only snowed once that we've had to shovel the walk. (and lets be clear that when I say we, I am IN NO WAY including myself) This was a few weeks ago and it actually wasn't too cold out so Seth went ahead and helped Nick out. Yes, that's a dust pan he's shoveling with ... but he LOVED it!

I could just eat up some rosy cheeks!

We had playdough one day that was a HUGE hit with Seth and another day we made colored noodle beads! Seth thought this was pretty exciting and made a necklace for everyone ... including Shelby!

He even wore it school the day after making them to show his teachers! He was so excited!

What a goof!

It's too bad she's not cute ... isn't it!

Seth and Shelby are becoming best buddies and I have to say I LOVE IT! They are starting to play together and laugh together and crack each up! It's the greatest. Seth is such a good big brother, always looking out for Shelby and making sure she doesn't topple over when she's reaching for something. I sometimes find myself feeling like my mom when they are laughing together so hard and it gets to loud I can't think. I remember my mom used to tell us to just SSSHHHHHH!!!! and we'd think it was so mean because we were just having fun. Now, I totally get where that comes from. Sometime there is just TOO MUCH NOISE and you need a break. But, then I smile because I have to admit I LOVE that they are laughing and loving being together!

Last night Seth and I were watching a movie together and we decided we needed a treat. I introduced Seth to a classic ... Root Beer Float! It was obviously, an instant success and he was so excited he even made one for Nick when he got home!

Also, yesterday was Seth's 1/2 Birthday celebration at school. Since his birthday is in the summer he gets to party on his 1/2 birthday. (even though that was in January). Anyway, he brought treat bags for his friends with Toy Story crayons, little note pads, and a coupon for a free jr. frosty and fries! He was pretty excited especially because Nick got to go to school with him to be the parents helper! He pretty much had the best day ever! This was his birthday crown he made at school and got to wear all day.

We're are just hanging in there waiting and dreading the summer at the same time. We can't wait for flip flop weather, but we're trying to figure out our summer plans at the same time and it's stressing me out. I keep telling myself this is the last crazy summer!!! I can't wait till we're done with school and can get on with our life!!!

Stay warm!

Seth's on YouTube

Seth is a crack up!

Over Christmas he somehow started watching videos of dominoes and marble races on YouTube. I exactly remember how it started, but anyway ... Ever since we got home from Kansas Seth has been wanting to make some of his own YouTube videos. Since we were all sick for the month on January, it was kind of forgotten for a few weeks. Well, now Seth has been asking me everyday to help him make youtube videos.

Well, this morning we finally did it! Seth is THRILLED that he can watch himself on YouTube and it's quite hilarious. Anyway, he now has his own YouTube channel and wants to make lots of videos ... we'll see what happens.

You can see his first two videos here and here. I only had one set of dominoes to work with so give me a break ...

Enjoy and please don't take us too seriously! LOL
