Go Shorty It's Your Birfday ....

Well, my birthday was last week and I was kind of depressed about it. Please refrain from the ridiculous, obligatory comments such as: "Sarah, you aren't old" .... or .... "Please, wait until you're my age!" Or any variation. I honestly was feeling weird about turning 25. I mean think about how old that sounds. I realize I do not quite have one foot in the grave or anything, but I really was feeling so old. Yes, probably the fact that I already am married and have a one year old had something to do with it.

But, really I mean, do you remember getting excited to be 16 to drive, 18 to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets (no i never did this, but always liked knowing i could if I wanted ), and so on. Well, now I'm old enough to do EVERYTHING except get the senior discount!

Anyway, for whatever reason I was not looking forward to my birthday at all and kept feeling weirder and weirder about it as it came closer. Now, that my rant is over ...
lets get on with this post!

I got a package from my cute Sister-in-law a few days before my birthday and both her and Nick said I could cheat and open it early .... You don't have to tell me twice! Seth helped me out too!
I met a friend of mine, Brittany, up at Sundance a few days before my birthday for lunch. We share our birthday week so we thought it'd be fun to celebrate getting OLD together. While waiting in the car for a few minutes Seth decided to strap himself into the seat belt ... he was having a ball!

Also, for my birthday Nick's mom gave me some money to go get my hair done. I've been struggling with my hair ever since I moved to Utah. I just haven't been able to find anyone that I really like enough to go back a second time. Anyway, here is what went down.

BEFORE:

After:
Yes, it looks kind of crazy in this picture because she curled it up and I had just finished making dinner so you know. But, you can get the gist here. I cut of about 4 or 5 inches and colored it a darker auburn color. I really LOVED the girl I went to ... if anyone needs a recommendation in Utah let me know.

You can kind of see my hair a little better in this picture. (But, i pretty much look nasty!) For my birthday Nick had a special day all planned out for me. I woke up and he and Seth had a little scavenger hunt planned for me around the house with gifts to find. We went out for breakfast and then I was actually able to relax for a lot of the day because it ended up that Nick was home for most of the day. Then in the evening Nick took me on a surprise date and we ended up at Chef's Table It was soooooo delicious and I've been wanting to go there for years! It was so much fun!

And I had an excuse to wear this fun dress I bought a few months ago. Also, because some people have been laughing with/at me about my coldwater creek purchase made this past summer .... here they are! I actually think they are cute ... but you decide!

Chelsea watched Seth while we went out on our date. When we got home we had some friends over for my annual Cookie Cake and ice cream. (if you didn't know ... I'm not a Cake Kind Of Gal haha ... don't worry if you don't get that, long story ...and it involves me being like 5 or 6)

Seth helped me blow out a million candles!

It turned out to be the best birthday I've had in a while! I had a few fun conversation with friends that aren't close by anymore and lots of fun with my family. Nick made it the best day for me. I'm so lucky to have a thoughtful husband like Nick. (Yes, I know it's cheesy ... but I'm over it!)

The verdict after the dreaded birthday was said and done, I don't feel any different and I still feel like I'm 18 (but hopefully with a little more sense than back then) I know how cliche can a person be in one blog post? Answer: very! I'm 25 and although, I'm not ready to shout it from the roof tops, I'm okay with it and glad I have so many great blessings and people in my life!

Random Video that has nothing to do with
the rest of this post:

Seth playing with a remote control car the Oliver's game him for this birthday. He plays with it a lot, but for some reason it was funny to me the other day so I got the camera out. Another video mostly for the grandma's.

A Day At The Park

We had a few days last week with such nice weather. Seth and I decided it was perfect time to head to the park and play for a while. We hadn't been for a while because it's been cold, rainy or whatever else. Seth had a blast. We were the only ones there for most of the time so Seth had full reign.

Seth was fascinated by the fall leaves ... and has been for a while. He loves to pick them up and really examine them. Who knows what that means?

We drove the "ship," which Seth thought was pretty fun!

For some reason Seth thinks it's pretty hilarious to squeeze himself through tight spaces. So, this was another one of those funny instances.

What a cute kid!

I tried to snap a photo before we went down the slide, but it was kind of difficult.

Seth loved the slide. At first he was hesitant and I held his hand while he went down. Then when I helped him get situated and took my hand away, out of no where he pushed HIMSELF and slid down. I wasn't sure if this was an accident at first, but then he sat at the bottom on the ground laughing, got up and headed back to go again!

After the park we ran some errands and somehow ended up at my favorite bakery shop??? We got a cookie and headed home, but after eating his treat he fell asleep and I mean OUT COLD!

Check out that messy face!

Here is a little video of Seth sliding down by himself. This particular time he went down he apparently got more momentum and flew off the end of the slide a little. Right before the video stops it sounds like he's about to start crying, but have no fear it was a laugh on it's way out! He was having a blast going down the slide like a big boy all by himself! He's so big now .... especially with his crazy new hair cut. (Soon to come)

For Your Entertainment

Well, these are just a few random videos of Seth being his little crazy self. He is quite the character these days. The first video is Seth playing his musical instrument of choice: the KAZOO! He always finds it and "plays" is around the house ... you'll see why it's so funny.

Next up is Seth in front of the mirror. I wish I had my camera when he first started, but he was trying to trick the little boy in the mirror. He was moving super fast in and out of the mirror frame, and opening his mouth and pointing. He even got jealous and ran to me when he pointed to the mirror and the "other" little boy was pointing to HIS mommy! Too funny .... anyway, here is the end of it.

Well, enjoy!

Halloween

Well, here it is ... our little Halloween Monkey! We got this costume a few days before Halloween because I couldn't quite decide what Seth should be for Halloween. Anyway, these first few pictures are from the day we got it, Seth trying it on. He loved it! He wanted to wear it all day!

then Halloween came and we were ready to party! Seth was ready to go as a little monkey and I was a witch! (hence the "flying" monkey) you know ... I am cheesy.

Nick was a European soccer player. He spent a while up stairs with the hair clippers trying to make a European crazy faux hawk do. It's hard to tell in the pictures however.

Seth was running around all night having a ball ... he loved dressing up and acting crazy! And all the trick-r-treaters we were getting were making him smile so big!

Family photo ... you can't really see in any of these pictures, but i had sweet black and green striped tights on ... they were fun1

Nick took Seth out trick-r-treating to the other places in our complex and he had fun. After the first few houses he got the hang of things and started reaching in people's bowls to grab more candy for his bag!

When he got home he was pretty excited about all his "treats!" He was running around everywhere. he sat down on the floor and pulled out all of his candy and laid it all over the floor around him and just started eating. He was chewing on the candy trying to open it until mom and dad helped him out a little.

We had a little Halloween get together with our friends Joey and Katie. Joey was a member of the Taliban and Katie was a nurse. We had a fun night playing rock band and eating yummy food. I should have snapped some rock band pictures ... whoops!

These next few pictures are actually form yesterday. Seth keeps finding his costume and bringing it to me wanting to wear it around the house. After a little bit the head part gets uncomfortable for him and he gets me to take it off, but keeps the rest on. He looks like the little kid form "Where The Wild Things Are" running around playing.

Lets be honest ... he's a cute little monkey!

He brings his little bag over to me and tries saying trick-or-treat. It pretty much sounds like, "Ttttt .... Ttttt!" But, it's cute. I have to find little things to keep putting in his bag.

Well, Seth had fun on Halloween as did we. He ate a TON of candy. (I mean, I'm not a crazy mom, but he had a few pieces, which for him is a lot) he had so much sugar he was awake until midnight with us! It was joyous! haha ... at least it was daylight savings and we got an extra hour of sleep in there!

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween like we did!

Carving Pumpkins and Making Cookies

So, on Wednesday night we carved pumpkins and made Halloween sugar cookies. Seth was very interested in what was going on and really wanted to help with everything! Here is a picture of our lovely pumpkins we got at the pumpkin patch!

Here are the boys planning what kind of a pumpkin face to carve out.

Seth was helping Nick scoop all the pumpkin guts out! He kept sticking his hand in there and saying "Eeeewww! Eeeewww!"

Here's Nick working hard to carve out that Jack-O-Lantern!

Seth was so quiet just sitting there watching Nick carve the pumpkin ... it was pretty cute.

Meanwhile, I was hard at work cutting out cookies. When we got to the end I let Seth have a turn and he cut out the last few pumpkins.

His favorite part was pushing down on the cookie cutter ... always the fun part for kids I think.

He was pretty proud of himself! And he also liked snitching some yummy cookie dough (okay so I snitched it for him, but every kid needs to get some of that delicious-ness!)

The finished product for Seth's pumpkin was Nick's rendition of Seth's "scary pumpkin face!"

... and Seth thought it was pretty hilarious!

Nick lit the pumpkin and Seth kept wanting to look inside at the candle.

Pretty much Seth was enthralled with the cool jack-o-lantern!

Hilarious Picture: I carved the bat pumpkin after finishing up with all the cookies. We were all supposed to be doing "scary pumpkin faces" but apparently only I was the one going with that theme! haha .... gotta love crazy family photos like this!

Here we are freezing our buns off trying to get another family pumpkin photo! p.s. i was pretty impressed with my bat pumpkin, if I don't say so myself!

The next night I decorated all the cookies! Nick helped with I think 2, but he was pretty busy studying and such.

Here I am with the finished cookies ... all of them!!! It really took me forever! And no don't worry ... we didn't eat all of them ourselves. We gave some to some neighbors and friends!

While decorating cookies I gave Seth one and he wasn't too sure about it. He didn't know what it was and if it was edible or what? He just kept staring at it like it was something he knew he wasn't supposed to touch!
Most of the time that I was decorating cookies, Seth was running around everywhere being crazy.

He was getting so excited for Halloween...he kept carrying around his costume wanting me to put it on him.

Here is another, not too exciting, video. Just Seth trying to figure out about this cookie!?
